Billing
Context comes with a free 30 day trial with no limits placed on the number of pageviews it renders. After completing the free trial, Context automatically applies the free tier subscription to your store, unless of course you select an upgraded plan before the trial was completed. Once an upgraded plan is running, there will be a recurring fee that appears on your regular Shopify subscription bill.
As with all apps on Shopify, the Context app is tied to the store and its admin/store owner.
Selecting your plan
Installing on a live site
As a store owner, you have the ability to install apps on your store. Upon first installation of Context, you’ll be presented with the subscription plans available.
Context plans are based on the overall number of pageviews Context displays to your customers.
As a rule of thumb, you should select the plan that most closely matches your monthly traffic (ie. select the 100,000 pageview plan if your traffic is between 10,000 & 100,000 visitors per month).
While pageviews aren’t the same as overall traffic, Context will run properly with this selection.
Once you select your plan, you’ll be redirected to the Shopify subscription confirmation page to confirm your plan.
After your final confirmation, you’ll be redirected back to the Context recipe dashboard.
What are pageviews?
After installing Context, add new Context blocks to your store theme so you can control variations of your content with recipes.
While you may include Context blocks on all of your theme's templates (Shopify Online Store 2.0), it’s possible that you may only want to include them on 1 or 2 templates.
Installing on a development store
Installing Context on a development store removes the need to select a plan. Developers can set up the app, apply blocks to theme templates, create variations of content, and even set up recipes.
Only once the store has been launched as a live store will the store owner be required to select the appropriate plan for Context to run.
Changing your plan
Context has been developed to improve engagement and conversions. This means it’s likely that over time you’ll see an uptick in traffic and pageviews to your store (woo hoo), which impacts the level of plan you’re subscribed to. Context will track your pageview metrics and display them on a dashboard, so you have full transparency into how your store is performing.
Usage limits
We understand that as your store grows, the pageviews shown to your customers will likely increase.
Context billing plans are based on the number of pageviews delivered to your customers. As a result, if traffic to your store increases and Context delivers more pageviews than your plan allows, we’ll continue to deliver ALL of the pageviews for the current billing cycle, and we’ll reach out to you in regards to a recommended plan that will continue to increase engagement and conversions.
Don’t worry though. If we see a change in your plan is required (up or down), we’ll notify you. We’ll even recommend the best plan for you based on your usage. Simply visit the “Subscription” page in the navigation and select the recommended plan.
Once a new plan is selected you’ll be redirected to the confirmation page to confirm the change.
Cancelling your plan
You can uninstall the Context app from your store from the Apps page in Shopify.
- From your Shopify admin, go to Apps.
- In the row of the app that you want to uninstall, click Delete.
- In the message that appears, click Delete.
What happens to my blocks/content once I cancel my plan?
Sadly, your blocks and content will be removed, and will no longer be accessible. It’s a requirement from Shopify that if an app is uninstalled, all associated files need to be removed at that time.
